I completely agree with this. I can not focus on school work for more than two minutes without getting distracted, which I can say, as I am distracted right now. I should actually be writing an essay for religion.
That was Dominic. It didn't put my name on it for some reason.
I agree with this article. The first time I was reading the article I was watching a movie too. After I read it once I couldn't remember the slightest thing about it. I stopped the movie and reread it. I could remember a whole lot more when I was focused on one thing at a time. I feel like I do this a lot with school assignments.
I agree with the article of Bob Sullivan Because i tried this out by telling my friend to message me while doing my homework's to see if this is true and what do you know I was distracted constantly. What I learned from this we need to turn off all distraction and sit down with total concentration.
The article is quite agreeable. Over the last school year its easy to spot out kids who whip out their phones during a lecture to check on texts, emails, and just disconnect from the class. Needless to say I also am one of those kids...

This is so sad.
This is my life.
I am so disappointed in myself right now. I've become dumber due to distractions on the internet, and I let it all happen.
I don't have a phone, but I do have a Facebook, gmail, and twitter, and I always feel the need to check one of them every 15 minutes. I actually know how bad my addiction is so sometimes I stay away from the sites, but promise myself that I'll visit them after I finish one homework assignment. The only time I've been away from Facebook for a long period of time was two lents ago, so just 40 days.
I'm going to test my productivity this week, and spend one day doing my regular routine of homework with facebook distractions and all, and then the next day with just one on one time with my homework. Let's see how this works out.
I agree with this because we have to use technology for most every thing, like when we have to take noted in class we use technology we we want to do homework we use technology and when we want to have fun we mostly use technology.

I agree with this article. I know from experience it is hard to focus on your homework while multitasking. I definitely concentrate better without distractions from other things. I just got an iphone for my birthday, and I have found it much harder to concentrate with it by my side than it somewhere else in my house. These pieces of glass and plastic are engulfing our lives.
It used to be the problem with technology was that it makes us obese and takes up our time, but we always had time for schoolwork. Now, technology is not only doing that, but we are also using it while doing homework, and also during school. I guess school isn't good enough for us teenagers anymore, I don't know. This article is truly sad:(
P.S. I had a letter to the editor published today on this topic, so you guys should read it:)
I completely agree with what this article said. I get distracted easily when I’m working on a computer, especially when it is an assignment I don’t want to do at all. However, I feel the study where they had the 136 college students take the cognitive ability test, but were interrupted with instant messages that they said contained important additional instructions during the exam, appeared to be too much of a set up. It’s one thing to say that you can have your phones out during the exam, but saying you will receive messages with important instructions is unfair and unreliable for a study like this. If I was in their spot I would read those messages so I could do well on the test. I still agree that gadgets can easily distract people, but I thought it was sad that the article could not produce two concrete examples for a statement like this.
I very much agree with this article for many reasons. First off I couldn't make it through the article without getting distracted about whether i texted someone back or not. Second i have found lately that i can study for about 30-45 minutes with just a few distractions from cell phones or computers. But after those thirty minutes or so i can't stop using my cell phone because i feel like i need a "break". This has been an issue in some classes because my "breaks" have lasted more than an hour and i have ended up coming to class very unprepared. This article really reminded me to be more cautious in letting my phone become too much a part of my life. This summer i hope to use my time more wisely by spending it doing productive things like hanging with family and friends, working out, practicing hockey, or longboarding.
I am in complete agreement with this article. I believe that all people today, teenagers especially have become distracted by modern technology. My dad shared an interesting article with me that discussed how smartphones have left us humans behaving like trained dogs. When your iphone buzzes a certain way you do one thing. when it whistles you do another, but we are always acting in response to what our phones are telling us. I too have found myself to be constantly distracted by my smartphone. Most of the time, when I am doing homework, I will get on my phone probably at least two times throughout doing one assignment. I have to actually make a conscious effort and even put away my phone out of sight in order to work on an assignment from start to finish. Those statistics were horrifying to me, especially because i know that I practice some of the same habits.
I agree that i get distracted a lot and it doesn't help that it is during class. Although that may be the case i still use technology to help me with homework as we are all doing by commenting on this
I as many have, agree with this article as i was reading it there was many times when i thought of doing something else, I also noticed the survey closer to the bottom of the web-page on the right side, even this distracted me for more than a minuet. I enjoyed the video after I was done reading it. I have decided that when I get the chance i will go out and read the book mentioned during video. This article is applicable throughout the year not only in school but everywhere we go.
