Freshmen: Today we started talking about free verse poetry. Your homework is to read for 20 minutes, work on Membean, and respond to the following prompt: How does the teacher in Dead Poet's Society explain and define what poetry is?

Sophomores: Today we focused on the creation myths you collected and the common elements they share. Your homework is to work on Membean and to think about the following question: What common elements are found among various creation myths, and what do those commonalities reveal about humanity?

CNF: Today our focus was on a broad overview of decision-making, and some of the biases we have about the process. Email me a photo of your room for an upcoming class activity.

The teacher explained poetry like the words are filled with passion, meaning and wonder. It should be something that is thought provoking and reaches the depths of a soul. Poetry is not meant to be graphed, graded and stuff into a neat little box. He wants poetry that comes from our own words, thoughts and ideas.

The teacher said that we write poetry because we are human. That we live to write poetry because we have emotions and we like to see this thing written and read about others who have experienced it. We read and write poetry because we are passionate and we care about others and about our self's. He wants his students to right poetry form thing that the students care about like work that we do in every day life to any thing emotional. He doesn't want his students to write something linear and follow a pattern he wants them to be free and write how they want.

Poems are the works of art that don't just show emotion, but are emotion. Poetry is the work of our human nature. We pour our emotions and our traits into, whether it be humor, sadness, excitement, or even hatred. The teacher wanted to show them that you simply can't determine the greatness of a work of poetry. It's something that you think on your own, and different people will think differently about poetry. Take paintings, for example. Pablo Picasso is widely regarded as one of the greatest artists to ever live. But you can't determine his greatness on a chart, you determine it on how you feel.

The teacher in the dead poets society described poetry as something that you can not put in to a formula and explain it that way. He also goes on to say that words can change the world and that people do not read and write poetry because it is cute, they read and write poetry because we are apart of the human race, and the human race is field with passion, and one way people and writers convey passion is through poetry about love and other topics. Poetry is a necessary need for the human race, it is one way for us to become who we are

In dead poets society the teacher talked about how poetry has no grading scale or rules. It is about us as humans and how we feel. That's what makes it so interesting. Poetry is filled with passion it is necessary. It is unique for each individual person and the emotion of anothers poetry is unique and inspiring.

In dead poets society the teacher talked about how poetry is what inside you, what you feel. Have passion while you write. Say thing that you want, not from some else or a book. Be who you are, and write poetry your way. Poetry does not have to be perfect. Some poets just start and see where they get. In other word when you write poetry, let your freak flag fly.

He explains that there isn't any special way you can write a poem. A poem is somewhat human, it contains emotions like happiness and sadness. You cant put instructions on emotions or how you feel, so you cant put them on a poem either. A poem is free like a wave. the teacher wants them to write something that flows freely and comes straight from the heart, not a rubric.

The teacher said that poetry should not be read out of a book, It should be experienced. Life should not be spent sitting in a class room looking at words from a poet who is long since dead, you should instead find your own meaning in the world through your own writing. Everyone feels poetry differently but how you can experience it is confined when someone else has selected the words for you. There are a million ways to describe a breeze but limiting it to "A cold breath," or "The poke of an invisible stick" force the reader to feel the breeze the way the writer felt the breeze.

The teacher in "Dead Poets Society" defines poetry as a way of communication of beauty and romance. He says that we read and write because we are humans and "the human race is full of passion". There is no right or wrong way to write poetry, it comes from inside. A poem should be a work of art that doesn't require any definite skill to write. He also said that "words and ideas can change the world" and that is true especially to poems. A poem is a very powerful work of art that can be anything you desire it to be.

In the "Dead Poets Society," the textbook that the students were reading from talked about how a poem is rated and things of that nature, and the teacher told them to rip all pages correlating to that subject out. This really stuck with me, because you can't rate words meant to inspire emotion, they are supposed to provoke creativity and not follow only strict line patterns.

In "Dead Poets Society" the teacher explains poetry as being part of the human race. Beauty, romance, and love is what poetry is all about, its the human passion of being alive. Poetry is about how you will contribute your verse about life. What will you do in life that is worth living for ? Poetry cant be measured.

In "Dead Poets Society" the teacher made all the students rip out the pages in there books on poetry lines and structure. He did this to show that poetry just isn't an organized set of lines or a pattern of words on a paper, what he was trying to show that poetry has meaning. It showed that the lines or structure don't matter, what matters is the emotion or feelings that are in the poem. This scene was really interesting for me because it tells me that I should read or write poems without looking for patterns or structure, but to get the story or emotions that are in the poem.

In the "dead poet society" the teacher explains poetry as more than defined explanation it's based of emotions and passion. The textbook won't tell them what real poetry is, in the movie he told them to rip out the intro. The true kind of poetry is with passion of writing it at the begin, middle , and end of the poem. Poetry is the key to human passion.

In the dead poet society the teacher explains poetry as being something that is automatically part of you no questions asked , and that its not something you can just open up in a book and learn that way its something you feel way deep down that you have to search for. The main message i got though is that well you definitely need lots of passion.

In The Dead Poets Society, the teacher asks a student to read the introduction to a chapter where it teaches students to rate poems on a scale, and a graph, with X and Y axis. The teacher then does something that the students seem to be very surprised at. He tells them to rip out not only this page, but the whole introduction of their textbooks. Then when he tells the students to all huddle up, he tells them that poems, and the quality of a poem can not be measured by an algorithm, he told them that as long as he was teaching them that they would learn to think for themselves. He explained that the english laguege and writing should be inspired by whats inside.

In The Dead Poets Society, The teacher of the class starts out by telling a student to read a chapter about poetry and rates poems by x and y graphs. Then the teacher tells the class to rip out a page from the book and throw it away. I think that he does this because he thinks that poetry stands for something more. To him poetry comes from the soul and every word brings expresses what your poem is trying to say. He also teaches them that poetry could be anything that means something important to them. I think that this part of the movie is really cool because he inspires the kids to wright what they want and to follow their own rules.

On the clip, "The Dead Poets Society" the teacher has one student read the passage as he writes on the board what the passage is telling them to do. It's basically like a math problem. The teacher then asks everyone to rip up the introduction because its useless. He then has them huddle up and tells the "We don't read and write poetry because it's cute.We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race and the human race is filled with passion." Basically he is saying poetry is something from deep within and that you are to follow your own rule not others.

Mr. Keating, the English teacher in "Dead Poet’s Society," says that poetry isn’t just rhyme and meter, but that words and ideas can change the world. He says that poetry, beauty, romance, and love are what we stay alive for. We read and write poetry because it is filled with passion. Mr. Keating compares poetry to life. Life goes on and each of us can contribute a verse by using our voices through poetry.

The short clip, ''Dear Poet's Soceity'' is about how a teacher taught all his students that, poetry isnt something you just read, Its something that you live its something that just comes to you. You cant just look at a poem and you just understand it right away. It all comes by due time. Thats why the teacher told them to rip out not just just the page, but the whole introduction.
Then he told them that poetry is beauty, romance and love are the stuff we live for. Poetry is part of our human race. Thats the whole memo of this clip

The teacher in Dead Poet's Society explains that the words and ideas in poetry can change the world. From what I learned today poetry starts with paying attention. Poetry takes willingness to write. Also, free verse poverty is a poem that doesn't have a regular rhythm, line length, or rhyme scheme. It relies on the natural rhythms of speech.

In "Dear Poet's Society" The teacher believes when writing and learning about poems doesn't need to come from a book. It has to come within yourself. Poetry is a language of the arts and love not math or science. Just because you can find out how 8 times 8 equals 64 in a book, Poetry isn't like that. Poetry needs imagination and freedom. Not Problem solving and written rules to find the right formula.

In ""Dead Poet's Society " the teacher teaches them that poetry is not something you understand right as soon as you read it, but something that takes a deeper understanding, a more open mind, and a lot of patience. It seemed like when he was teaching them about poetry while using a poem. The students were deeply focused on what he was saying. Also, he makes sure they know that poetry is something that is a part of all of our lifestyles.
