Freshmen: Today we practiced the reading skill of making inferences, primarily by reading Hemmingway's short story "Hills Like White Elephants." As you read tonight, try to read between the lines and pick up what is going on by reading what the author didn't write.
Sophomores: Today we focused on Aristotle's concept of the tragic hero and how that applies to Oedipus. You need to finish Oedipus the King for Monday.
CNF: Our plan is to have everything ready for the next block period; we'll split the block between a seminar and your lectures on your childhood dreams.
Basketball: Done tonight at 5; check out at 2:10 for pregame prep on Friday.

Freshmen: Today we began two things: poetry out loud and a division and classification essay. Your poetry out loud worksheet is due Monday; your essay is due Friday. We also set the schedule for vocab, and chapter 8 is due Friday the 5th of February. Be sure to read for 20 minutes the next two nights.
Sophomores: Today we began poetry out loud and made some good progress with Oedipus the King. Your POL worksheet is due Monday, and for Thursday you need to read everything in Oedipus up to the start of the third choral ode (page 47 in my book).

Freshmen: Today we focused more on Division and Classification essays. For homework, read the essays on the types of presidents, and the types of friends in Models for Writers. That is your 20 minutes of reading.
Sophomores: Today we tried to build background knowledge on Oedipus and Sophocles. Read everything up to the first episode in Oedipus the King.
CNF: This week this is what we are doing: Writing an essay on your childhood dreams, reading The Last Lecture, and putting together some props/visuals for a less than 4 minute presentation on your childhood dreams.
Basketball: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday we end at 5. Wednesday, we go from 12:30-2:30.

CNF: We finished viewing The Last Lecture. Next week we will read the text, craft a lecture of our own on our childhood dreams, and also work out a presentation on the topic.
Basketball: We have a bus back after our game tonight; we will not practice Saturday, but do have a team meal; you need to do some shooting this weekend.
