English 12A: Today we contrasted a less successful essay, "Ecuador," with the much more successful "Don't Take Pooping for Granted" that we analyzed yesterday. We then planned out our reflective memoir college application essays using an Aristotlian story arc. We listened to a segment of This American Life, took notes on pitfalls high school writers make when applying to college, explored some of the Common App's prompts, and took notes on the three prompts that held the greatest appeal for each individual. Your homework is to complete that prewriting assignment, read for 20 minutes, and acquire a device you can compose on in class.
