Sophomores:

Today we continued our Hero Catch-Phrase Project, did some reading and discussion, and talked about the characters whose archetypes you determined. Keep reading Tuesdays With Morrie all week and study for your final.

CNF:

Today we talked about Bruce's promise to his parents, as well as whether, given his talents and resources, becoming the Batman was the right decision for Mr. Wayne (duh - of course it was!).

CNF:

Today we focused on promises, and their importance, particularly as it pertains to Bruce Wayne's promise to his parents to rid Gotham of crime. I also mentioned that you can find the final exam prompt on the blog, which I promise you that you can.

Sophomores:

We read some today in class, did another entry in the Hero Catch-Phrase Project, completed our archetype exercise, and focused on reviewing for the semester final. Keep up with the Tuesdays With Morrie schedule I have posted on the blog and finish your essay that is due on Tuesday.

Freshmen:

Today we focused on refining our arguments for the debates that will begin on Monday, as well as reviewing for the final exam, which is posted on the blog. Your homework is to read for 20 minutes over the weekend, refine your argument for Monday, and gather your research for next week's final.

CNF Second Semester Final Exam

Compelling Non-Fiction Second Semester Final Exam

This semester we studied the notion of what the world would be like without us, as well as what the world can be like with us. With that in mind, your final exam is to write an essay that details what specific, tangible, and measurable thing (or things) you will do in the next calendar year to make the world a better place. In the course of your essay, you should reference some of the things we have read, viewed, and discussed, as well as how the thing we have read, viewed, and discussed have impacted your thinking about this concept of each individual person making the world a better place. Your essay should be double spaced and clear of most conventions errors. The essay should have a clear beginning, middle, and end, and display depth and clarity of thought. Provide a compelling (non-fiction) title at the top when finished. Not included in your grade, but expected from me, is periodic updates from you over the next year as to how your plan is working out. Good luck, and thank you for your time and effort this semester.
